Creating Slides on SlideShare

Until now, SlideShare has been a repository of slides you create in other programs such as Microsoft PowerPoint or Apple Keynote – and then upload to their site. And then now something completely different has been announced – the option to create slides within SlideShare itself! In this tutorial, we will explore how you can create a basic presentation within SlideShare.

We are assuming that you already have a SlideShare account – if you do not, it’s easy to create a new SlideShare account. Once you are signed in, follow these steps to create your own slides:

1. Click on the large Get Started button, shown in Figure 1 below.

2. You may see a login window pop up. Here you have to sign in with your SlideShare credentials to use the new slide creation features.

3. Once you are logged in, a prompt window requesting your privacy controls appears – this only happens the first time you use SlideShare’s slide creation features. You now have to click on the Accept button (highlighted in blue within Figure 3, below) to start using Haiku Deck.

   What is Haiku Deck?
   
   Haiku Deck is essentially an online slide creation service that has now been conveniently plugged right within the SlideShare site – once you accept the terms within the window shown in Figure 3, above – you will seamlessly work right within SlideShare.



4. After Clicking the Accept button, you’ll be redirected to the presentation mode powered by Haiku Deck (see Figure 4 below).
